We raise only a small number of birds to ensure each is given the love and attention it deserves. Our birds are kept in pairs in our home, they are ‘pets first’ and breeding is merely a hobby. They all have names, they are treated with respect and their individually is accepted and adored – not all birds are alike. Our home is in a peaceful country setting, we are non-smokers, maintain G-rated language and all birds are kept in bright sun-filled rooms (no basement-birds & no lonely out-buildings) with plenty of fresh air. Windows are kept open whenever temperatures allow and we make use of many HEPA filters to keep the air clean.

- KAP Aviaries
KAP Aviaries specializes in exceptionally sweet handfed exhibition/companion cockatiels and congo african grey parrot of above average quality that not only enjoy, but seek human interaction. Since we are hobby breeders we do not raise a large 'quantity' of birds as we breed for quality and it is important to us that each bird receives full attention and care.

I've kept birds since I was about twelve years old. My first interest was in breeding color mutations. In 1989 I bought a whiteface cockatiel from an importer here in Miami and bred him with a big lutino hen. From that start I bred one of the first albinos to be shown at an ACS show. My focus turned to breeding more for conformation, that is to say, balance, size, posture and length. In 2006 one of my Normal cockatiels went Best in Show at the American Cockatiel Society Specialty Show. His son went Best in Show at the 2007 ACS Specialty Show.

I've owned and raised cockatiels since 1998. Since 2005 I am concentrating on breeding "Top Bench" show cockatiels. When I started breeding cockatiels I was a "Hobby Breeder", now I'm more an "Exhibitor Breeder". All that breeding won't make my cockatiels any sweeter than anybody else's cockatiels, but it goes with my hobby more than when I started with cockatiels in 1999. In the end, "Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beholder".
